YOU MAY NEED TO TAKE ACTION NOW TO KEEP YOUR BENEFITS
Georgia is now REQUIRED to re-evaluate individuals on Medicaid that have not been re-evaluated for eligibility since 2020.
TAKE THESE STEPS IF YOU ARE ON MEDICAID:
- Check to make sure DFCS has your current mailing address. Check in your Gateway account at gateway.ga.gov or by going into your local DFCS office. If it is wrong, please UPDATE it.
- Have all paperwork related to income changes available. If you began receiving Social Security benefits, changed or lost a job, or received any other payments, have that paperwork ready because DFCS may want to see it.
- Be responsive any time DFCS contacts you.If you receive anything in the mail, read it immediately and respond as soon as you can. If a caseworker calls you, answer the phone or call them back immediately. Check to make sure your voicemail box is empty so that caseworkers can leave you a message. You can also check your Gateway account regularly to see any notices they have mailed if you are worried about mail not being delivered to your home.
- Contact Atlanta Legal Aid Society immediately if you receive a notice that you are being kicked off Medicaid. We may be able to assist you with your termination. You have the right to appeal a Medicaid termination and, if you appeal within 10 days, your benefits will remain active until the conclusion of your appeal.
